How good is AFL in Shanghai

Any trip in Australian winter requires precise planning around our football commitments. Got to have your priorities right. By May A league is over so we only have to manage any travel around Bulldogs and Saints games. Which means travel this weekend while the Saints play in Shanghai and the Doggies play in Perth and we each have a bye next weekend is perfect.

Shame that we did not factor in our travelling companion Terry whose Tigers are playing this Friday night as I type. Funny watching a man plugged into his AFL phone app as he went through airport security and Customs. Peter Dutton’s lieutenants did not look impressed. Reminds me of the legendary family story of my father Jack walking cousin Jill down the aisle in 1966 with a transistor to his ear listening to the Saints in the preliminary final.

Perhaps before I get too excited about how good Shanghai football is maybe I should wait until the result tomorrow- we might get a shellacking.

And yes, I did consider taking this trip via Shanghai and popping into the game -transiting Shanghai was an option flying with China Southern. But I am over travelling around the world to watch my football teams. Some of you may recall my trip with Leonie and Drew around this time last year to Wembley to sadly watch Manchester United.
